A powerful mixer is a great helper in the kitchen.
The flower buns require more water than the pork buns. 2 1/2 teaspoons of yeast and 1 cup of water. Mix well and pour into mixer.
The recipe requires 10 cups of all-purpose flour and 5 1/2 cups of water. Please remember you have already added 1 cup of water earlier, here you only need 4 1/2 cup of water. Set the timer up for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, place the dough into a large bowl and rest for 2 hours at room temperature around 68° F.
Divide the dough into 5 pieces. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into a thin sheet.
Have a 1/2 cup of corn oil and 2 tablespoons of flour mixture and set aside.
Evenly brush the oil-flour mixture onto the sheet. Sprinkle salt in small amounts onto the sheet.
Roll dough tightly around the center.
Cut 8-10 pieces about 2” each. Use a thin stick to press the grooves into the pieces of dough.
Twist two pieces of dough together. Form a flower shape.
You also can use a chopstick create the form.
Add cold water to the steam pot and place flower buns onto the basket. Let the flower bun rest for 30-40 minutes. After 40 minutes, turn the stove on to the highest setting. Steam for 15-20 minutes after water is boiling. When time is up, turn off the stove and set the steam pot aside for 5 minutes before opening up.
This is the final product. The delicious soft flower buns are ready to eat.
